Senior Systems Software Engineer (Bristol, UK):
You will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, testing and performance of embedded software for new data storage products. Innovation is key as you design and develop major functional and performance enhancements for existing products and produce new software products and tools. You will review requirements, specifications, and designs to assure product quality and will develop and implement plans and tests to ensure product quality and performance assurance.

Qualifications
Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree in a technical discipline (e.g. computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics, physics, etc.)

Experience and knowledge:
Software development experience including C/C++ in an embedded Linux environment. Experience in Java and/or a working knowledge of Windows internals would be an advantage, as would relevant experience in Network Attached Storage systems. Leading and working with cross-functional teams as well as practical experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Skills:
Software design, development and de-bugging skills
Strong project management skills
Analytic ability in order to research technical issues and generate creative/innovative solutions
Fluency in English

- Knowledge of software revision control system CVS preferred.
- An appreciation of the SCSI, SAS and USB, FC and iSCSI protocol with respect to storage products.
- Working with cross-functional teams as well as practical experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge (development and application) in multiple operating systems preferred.
- Expertise in additional programming languages and technologies
such as HTML, Java, C, Perl, Shells Script/Korn Shell, etc. preferred.
- Oracle Database knowledge would be useful.
- Ability to debug problems to their root cause
- Able to successfully self manage changing priorities
